Both Sculptra and hyaluronic acid (HA) filler can restore a fresher, more balanced look, but they work in very different ways. Understanding the difference helps you choose, and often the best plans use both.

How hyaluronic acid filler works

HA filler is a gel placed in a specific area to add volume and structure right away. It is ideal for precise refinement: lips, cheeks, under-eyes, jawline and chin, and softening deeper folds.

  • Results: visible immediately, refining over the following weeks.
  • Longevity: varies by treatment area and product.
  • Reversible: HA filler can be dissolved if needed.

How Sculptra works

Sculptra is a collagen stimulator. Rather than adding volume directly, it prompts your skin to rebuild its own collagen, gradually restoring structure, density and support.

  • Results: develop gradually over several months, which is why they look so natural.
  • Treatment: usually a series of sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
  • Longevity: results can last up to 2 years or more.

Side by side

  • Best for: filler for precise, targeted refinement; Sculptra for overall volume loss and skin quality.
  • Speed: filler is immediate; Sculptra builds gradually.
  • Sessions: filler is often one appointment; Sculptra is a series.
  • Feel: filler offers immediate definition; Sculptra brings a gradual, overall improvement.

Why many plans combine both

Sculptra can rebuild a foundation of collagen over time, while filler adds precise definition exactly where it is needed, such as the lips or jawline. Your injector will recommend the right balance for your face and goals.
